Vítkov Hill
National Museumdirector of the , discussed the significance of Vítkov “The history of the Vítkov Memorial is a complex one, dating back to the 19th century. At that time Vítkov Hill was first considered a possible location for a memorial, with symbolism dating back to the time of the Hussites. After the founding of Czechoslovakia, the memorial’s foundation stone was laid in 1928: the memorial was meant to celebrate Czechoslovak statehood but also to honour the country’s legionnaires who fought abroad. Even TG Masaryk was supposed to have been buried there, but of course that never happened. By 1938, when the memorial was completed, it would suffer an unexpected fate.”

“Small Czech breweries complain that the largest Czech beer maker Plzeòský Prazdroj restricts their supplies to some restaurants,” Kamil Rudolecký, vice-chairman of the UOHS (antitrust office) told reporters on July 27th, 2007…
“The UOHS has received several complaints that Plzeòský Prazdroj (Pilsner Urquell) has violated an exception granted by UOHS in 2006. But the office, which monitors the situation on the market regularly, has not detected any flaws,” he added.
Plzeòský Prazdroj, a unit of SABMiller holding and brewer of the Pilsner Urquell brand, sold 10,700,000 hectoliters of beer from April 2006 to March 2007. The UOHS permitted the brewery to sign contracts on minimal annual purchases of beer with restaurants.
The exception sets a ceiling on the amount to be purchased from Plzeòský Prazdroj at 70 %. The rest is earmarked for other suppliers. But small breweries insist their share has fallen.
“The UOHS has dealt with Prazdroj several times and imposed a CZK 450,000 fine on the brewery for exclusive contracts with customers, but in this case it has found no offence,” Rudolecký said.

Members of art-group called connected up to one of the stationary cameras during TV weathercast and in real time broadcast their own shots, which showed nuclear exposion. Then the picture changed. Instead of the name of the locality (Black Mine in the Krkono¹e Mountains) the website reference ztohoven.com (website is overloaded for now) came up on the screen.
The website welcomes visitors with “This is media reality” announcement. Website contains photos of three masked persons moving around a building probably provided with the infiltrated camera of Czech TV. A guestbook is available as well.
Martin Krafl, the Czech TV spokesman protested against the interference: “The fake broadcast was really very inadvisable and could have provoced panic within large group of people.” Czech police investigates the event.
The ‘hacked’ Panorama program is a 40 minutes long TV broadcast that shows actual weather in various locations of Czech Republic by a panoramatic cameras.
Statement made by art group ‘Ztohoven’ regarding their attack at the public service broadcaster in the Czech RepublicWe are neither a terrorist organization nor a political group, our aim is not to intimidate the society or manipulate it, which is something we witness on daily basis both in real world and in the world created by the media.
Whether the reasons are political interests, market interests, financial interests or interests of supranational companies – we meet hidden manipulation and attempt to invade the subconscious mind of citizens with specific products or ideology, using all available means. We do not think that a subtle distortion of such system or an appeal to pure common sense of people and their ability to remain unaffected are harmful, not even in a democratic society. That is why, several years ago, the art group “Ztohoven” penetrated the public sphere of Prague, questioned the space given to advertisement generally and the space given to specific adverts. On the 17th of June 2007 this group attacked the space of TV broadcasting. It distorted it, questioned its truthfulness and its credibility. It drew attention to the possibility of using images of the world created by the media in place of the existing, real world. Is everything we see daily on our TV screens real? Is everything presented to us by the media, newspapers, television, Internet actually real? This is the concept our project would like to introduce and remind of. We believe that even the free space of public service broadcaster is able to endure such action and such impeachment. We hope our action will become an appeal for the future and remind the media of their duty to bring out the truth.
Thank you for independent media and free space for our society.
An artistic group Ztohoven has alredy undertaken 2 other happenings, that attracted attention of mainstream media. They attempted to veil half of a neon heart installed at the Prague CastleZtohoven covered 800 city-lights in Prague with their own posters in the protest against advertisement in November, 2003.
